Building Stronger Communities Through Sports: Why Giving Back Matters

For many families, summer camps and sports programs aren’t just about keeping kids active. They are about providing a safe, structured, and uplifting environment where children can grow. At Aspire for Higher, we use sports-based programming as a powerful way to engage youth from all backgrounds. Our goal is to help them grow into confident individuals, future community leaders, and responsible citizens, regardless of financial status.

With the help of community donors along with our own contributions, we were able to remove financial barriers for many kids this summer. This provided them an opportunity to experience our programming without added financial stress for their families. Giving back allows kids to witness the power of community support and teaches them that we’re stronger when we uplift one another.

Summer 2025 Donors

This summer, we were fortunate to receive incredible support from donors who share our vision:

  • Canadian Tire – Through their Individual Child Grant program, Canadian Tire has shown their commitment to youth development and community engagement. Their program provides financial assistance to youth from low income families so they are able to participate in our summer program. Their support makes it possible for kids to access enriching experiences that may have otherwise been out of reach.
  • The Richard D. P. Clarke Memorial Association Inc.– The Richard D. P. Clarke Memorial Association was established to honour Sergeant Richard Delgardo Philippe Clarke’s legacy of over 31 years of dedicated service to his community. Carrying forward his spirit of giving, the foundation made it possible for five children to attend camp at no cost this summer. For those kids and their families, this donation meant more than just a week at camp—it meant a summer filled with new friendships, valuable skills, and lasting memories.
  • Aspire for Higher’s Own Contributions –This summer, Aspire for Higher donated nearly $25,000 into our community by providing 90 children with free or subsidized camp experiences. This direct financial assistance ensured that families facing financial barriers could access high-quality programming focused on physical literacy, leadership, and mental wellness. Beyond the numbers, this donation reflects our commitment to equity and opportunity—ensuring that every child, regardless of circumstance, has the chance to grow, learn, and thrive through sport and wellness.

These numbers represent more than just dollars—they represent real children with real stories who were able to play, learn, and grow because of community support.

Looking Ahead: How You Can Help

The generous donations we have received this summer is proof of what’s possible when individuals and organizations come together for a common cause. Still, the need in our community is ongoing, and every contribution—big or small—makes a difference. By giving back, you’re not just sponsoring our organization; you’re investing in a child’s future.

We invite you to be part of this impact. Whether through donations, partnerships, or volunteering, your support helps ensure that even more kids can access safe, engaging, and inspiring opportunities next summer and beyond. If you would like to contribute to our ongoing initiatives by donating, please visit our donation page for more information.

Together, we can continue to build stronger communities, one child at a time.
